From 2024, we will be providing cycling sessions during the Norfolk school holidays, from Easter to October, on the multi-use games area at the Manor Road playing fields in Long Stratton, NR15 2XR, with two one-hour sessions on Wednesday afternoons, at 1pm and 2pm.

If your child would like to bring their own cycle or has siblings, who they wish to ride with them, this can also be arranged by contacting us prior to booking your session, but we will need to check the cycle prior to the session, to ensure it is safe to use.

A parent/carer must always remain present, and will always be responsible for the care and supervision of the child. Parents/carers will remain in a marked-out pit area at the start of the circuit, unless riding with their child or their assistance is otherwise required. BikeActive Norfolk volunteers will only deal with cycling related issues.

A bike helmet must be worn by all junior participants. We do have a few helmets that we can supply, but you are encouraged to bring your own.

All of our volunteers will wear 'hi-viz' tabards.

We have a reservation system for places on our sessions. Sessions are limited to nine individual service users, so booking in advance, via our website is essential.

A donation of by is requested for each session place. As we are a not-for-profit charity, this helps pay for our third party liability insurance (viewable in the 'Documents' section), maintenance of our bikes and rental of our operating venues; however, we will never turn anyone away due to an inability to pay.

BikeActive Norfolk Junior will supply a range of trikes, big and small, go karts and scooters for children to use. There will also be several rear steer tandems and tandem trikes that BikeActive Norfolk volunteers, or after instruction, parents/carers can ride with their child.

There is also a side-by-side tandem, which can be ridden with a child, and for children who predominantly use a wheelchair, we have both a tandem trike wheelchair transporter and tandem trike wheelchair. These need to be booked in advance by contacting us prior to booking your session.

The side by side tandem, wheelchair tandem trike and wheelchair transporter trike, all come with Electric motors. They will only ever be operated by BikeActive Norfolk volunteers or parents/carers we have trained to safely operate them. To ensure the safety of all our users, they will never be operated by children.

Basic teas, coffees and orange squash with biscuits will be available from the Manor Road pavilion for a small donation during sessions.

There is ample parking at Manor Road playing field, including some disability parking.

Run by BikeActive Norfolk, this is a new group, specifically catering for children (under 18 years) with disabilities.

...we aim to help children, with any disability, enjoy cycling in the safety of a group, alongside trained & experienced volunteers.

There will be a trained First Aider present at all BikeActive Norfolk Junior sessions, and there is a First Aid kit and defibrillator held in the park pavilion.

All BikeActive Norfolk volunteers have been DBS checked and the group has a safeguarding policy which is viewable in the 'Documents' section (see menu above) of this website.

We run from Easter to October, currently Wednesdays are available, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, unless the weather is especially inclement. We typically have two sessions per day, places within which are reservable in advance, from this website.
